Contemporary science viewpoint of mankind as a deep machine spikes the grasp of mankind as a thinker alive. Despite observations and evidences of existence of some phenomena like telepathy, dreams, visions, afflatus and suchlike, whereas these phenomena aren’t able to be included in the small and limited shape that is known as scientific method of knowing human , are ignored totally. There is more knowledge than what can be confirmed as fact by the scientific method, which depends upon measurement, statistics, and repeatability, though it's useful to start from this verifiable knowledge in our everyday life.

And yet, can this other knowledge, which I will call wisdom, be taught?

I have heard stories concerning this pursuit by students of Zen, by mystics of other religions, by advice columnists, even. Folklore transmits some of these lessons by allegory.

But I am of the opinion that there are many, perhaps all of us, who are impervious to such lessons and will cling stubbornly to our dearest paradigms. Only when we are lost, bewildered, bereft, and without anything left to cling to are we able to open our minds and contemplate changing our view, and acquiring some wisdom on our own.

In fact, there are times when what I do contradicts what I know to be my best interest, and I know this is the case for everyone but a very elite, perhaps mythical, few.

In plain language, we're all boneheads, living in contradiction, and likely to be blind to anything that doesn't fit our beliefs.

Or is that at all what you were asking? It's difficult to tell. But you did solicit an opinion.

Science is proved based on physical evidence. Phenomena such as "telepathy, dreams, visions, afflatus and suchlike" are abstract in nature and physical evidence has yet to be discovered to substantiate the existence of such phenomena .

This is very similar to the widely accepted belief that extraterrestrials exist but there has yet to be any physical evidence which has validated any such beliefs.

Observations do NOT constitute physical evidence.

I watched a movie called "What the Bleep do we know?" (2004) that started to explore these aspects of humanity from a quantum physics perspective. I thought it was interesting and related to the phenomena you are talking about.

Science doesn't ignore things like telepathy. Science considers the evidence for telepathy, for instance, weak. There's a big honkin' difference.
