Yeah, their lives have been wasted over this conflict...they died you know....no coming back from that. Our reasons for going to Iraq were unfounded and we are now involved in a "no-win" situation. The troops didn't get us into this mess, they are doing as good of a job as they can...it was Bush and his manipulated intelligence that got us there. And since I know 2 wonderful people who were killed in this conflict, I say, yeah, their lives were wasted...their kids are sure gonna miss 'em too. Yeah, Bush loves the troops so much he sends them to die, hmm... you call that love. I hope Bush doesn't "love" me too.

Obama may be right, but that is just something that you don't say. No family or friend of a fallen soldier wants to believe that their loved one died for nothing. We could play "what if's" all day long regarding what would have happened if we didn't go to war, or if we just pull our troops out, nonetheless we are there now, and need to support our troops efforts. Even if some of the US troops that are over there don't believe in this war, they are still there, and we need to support them. If someone told me that I was going to go to war, and could very likely die, it would make a huge difference if I was going to die for nothing, so i wouldn't go. These soldier need to believe that they may die for something, or they will all just give up.
So I raise my glass to all the fallen soldiers and to all those that put their lives at risk every day over there.

How can anyone say that these lives were wasted. I mean these are young brave men and women keeping us safe. Don't get me wrong I do not approve of this war, but the lives of our people cannot be considered wasted. Does he believe that America should just lay down and get walked on in the future. Would he have the guts to send us to war if the need arose.

It was an uncalled-for war, with Iraq being no threat to American security, with even Iraq's neighbor and enemy (and supposed staunch U.S. ally) Saudi Arabia opposed to the war. Our troops do a superb job, but if the civilian policy that puts them there is pig-headed, then yes, their lives are wasted.
Exactly how do you disagree with that?
[ADDED] OK, I see your added detail. If you want to play pundit or political consultant, that's fine, but personally I think we voters should get back to voting for a candidate based on their ideas, policies, and opinions, instead of what we THINK are OTHER people's ideas and opinions about that candidate.
I'm not discounting your general point, but I don't hear you saying that you yourself are offended by his remarks - only that you THINK other people will find them offensive. Maybe other people will, and they can vote as they choose, as can you. Again, not only do I agree with him, but I have no problem with him expressing it in this way.

He's right. The purpose of the military is to protect the US. Those deaths have not made the US more secure. If anything the policies that resulted in those deaths have made the country less secure.

Are you in the Service? Will you go to Iraq and give up your life? Don't you understand that Iraq did not attack us on 9/11?

I think he is way too Liberal for any majority of people that aren't in his Liberal party to take him seriously. I personally think he's a joke. Of course people don't want our soldiers in Iraq. But a majority also don't feel that the proper move is just to withdraw all of our troops. He needs to go hug a tree and smoke his cigarettes. I'm tired of listening to him and Hillary talk the talk, but aren't backing it up with any action. It's really getting annoying.
