I don't think guys would be considered as much of a jerk if there was no advertising.

The jewelry ads come out full force and tell us that we don't love each other unless we buy exorbitant gifts.

I think men overall would have a better image without advertising.

(ie: why is it considered okay for a guy to get slapped in a commercial - it's even considered funny)

For sure, women the world over are Mistresses of the Penultimate Grapevine. We don't need advertising to get the word out, an aerobics class or a Tupperware party will do nicely.

Therefore, the fairer sex would know all about International Love Day, and men would have no clue why their female counterparts were so pissed at them on February 15th. Which might create a new holiday - Hell Hath No Fury Day. Possibly all week. Could stretch into March for some unlucky bastards.

Most of the time a guy is considered a jerk when his wife/girlfriend sees other women getting gifts and she doesn't get anything. Of course Valentines day is a great big marketing scheme, it plays on womens emotions. I can't imagine anyone being excited about something that is so predictable and dogmatic.

Good One!

It's right up there with:

If a man speaks in the woods and no one can hear him, is he still wrong???

Being a woman, I'm gonna' vote yes. But I do think that the card, candy, jewelry and floral industry are jerking you guys around quite a bit.

Yes!

You are not supposed to celebrate Valentine's Day because of social pressure, it's supposed to be about appreciation.

So go ahead and get your gal something sweet for putting up with you for the last year.

Here's an even better question...who do I have to kill to get rid of all of these stupid Hallmark holidays?

If I see some crap I want to get for my gf, then I'll just get it and give it to her. I don't want to be forced to do it just because women have some kinda goddamned notion that we owe them something just because of some stupid merchant-driven holiday.
