I have this odd pain in my left knee that I usually can't feel unless I'm sitting indian style, or have my left foot pulled back. Whenever I'm training jiu-jitsu and my left knee cap is in contact with the mat with my foot pointing toward my back, I feel it, and it hurts like a mother.

It feels like there is a vein or something on the surface of my kneecap, that when the skin is tightened around the kneecap the vein is more exposed and sensitive, when it makes contact with something there is pain.

I'm not sure if that is a fair assessment but it's moreso a guess. Can anyone give me an idea of what's going on?

I have seen a doctor about this... all he prescribed me was pain relievers and didn't seem to have much insight to the problem.

I use an extra pad under my knee for a similar pain. In yoga I use extra blocks to sit on to relieve the pressure in the knee. Maybe you should ease up on it, give it a rest, treat it with TLC.

It doesn't hurt to see a doctor and discuss. Nerve pains and some ligament pains can be quite severe.
