Stress releases horrible hormones that will cause illness, and definitely lengthen recovery time. The bible says that "laughter is the best medicine." This is true. All those endorphins help the body. I've seen Where people with debilitating diseases were healed through several "laughing" sessions. So, try to "let go" of life worries. Find some good comedy movies and laugh laugh laugh! SMILE

Stress absolutely does affect recovery time. That is one of the reasons they try to send you home; hospitals are very stressful places to stay for most people.
I hope you can find a way to reduce your stress, within yourself if not in your surroundings.

Almost all indications point to the fact that when stress levels are up, immunity and healing processes are compromised. You should take whateer steps you can to help alleviate the stress in your life, especially during your recovery time.

When you are stressed, white blood cells are not generated as quickly as normal, therefore reducing the power of your immune system. It has been proven that a positive, clear mental attitude has a positive effect on the healing process....relax,get plenty of rest, eat proper(balance),and have a good attitude.

indeed it does, I'm a pediatric Oncology nurse, I must say that during my not-so-long experience with Cancer patients, I have seen cases that were similar in the diagnosis and staging, but they reacted really differentely to treatment, they're still on treatment, but you can tell that the one with the more positive attitude ( and the less stress of disease) is doing much better than the depressed one, averyone thinks it's because of biological diffrences, but to me, it's all about the good attitude and the stress-free way of handling things.
that's how my gut feeling is telling me, but you won't find a really scientific proof of that.

yes because stress lowers the immune system (it's all to do with some particular cells. ) Calmness will aid recovery , happiness is even better.

....my questions is: "what" situation is stressing you out?
Try and eliminate your stressors, if at all possible.
I don't think stress will affect your body healing - but while recovering it would be nice if you could have some peace and quiet.
