Sedna is now classified as a dwarf planet. This was the result of a vote of professional astronomers on 8/24/06 which also demoted Pluto (which is smaller than Sedna) to a dwarf planet. Click the following link for a discussion: http://www.solstation.com/stars/dwarfpla.htm

Sedna is classified either as a planetoid or a dwarf planet. (Sedna is slightly bigger than Pluto). It is an object in the Oort cloud beyond the orbit of Neptune.
