yes it has been over hyped . media is responsible and also the shopkeepers who made it commercial. love cannot be measured in terms of money. but the commercials on tv potray that the one who gives the costliest gift loves the most. also i dont think u need to celebrate ur love along with thousands of people. u hv ur own days ie ur anniversaries etc. which is only between u and ur special one

I agree about it being commercialized. But I appreciate the holiday because in the midst of songs that talk about who got the biggest T&A, I can appreciate a day to remind everyone about an endangered tradition called "romance". It's nice to be told how fantastic you are as a lover, friend, mother, sister, etc. Not how nice your rack is or how much money you have or how nice your car is.
Weather it's by force or by nature, we need romance in the air sometimes.

depends on who you are and how you look at it. It doesn't have to be this huge thing that everyone has to spend a lot of money on. Get a group of people together and celebrate it like any other special holiday like a birthday. It can be for everyone and it can be made into something that is just as much fun as romantic. Its only as big of a deal that you make it.

I guess its just a day for everyone who has a special someone to do or buy something nice for them! But i guess i kind of agree with you. If love is priceless then why do you have to buy your significant other a gift??

I think people need to give recognition to their love and to refresh it .... but it is not possible that one day should be the right day for everyone... it really is all hyped up, as you say.
I am sure that there are things that are part of Indian tradition that are far more meaningful and less injurious to one's inner feelings.
Peace & Love

You make a very good point. It is marketing, marketing, marketing. I should not even be saying this since I produce advertising, but I cannot tell a lie!
