What has he accomplished? He is 45 years old and has never been governer, never been mayor and doesn't have a particularly standout law career. He has nothing of any note. If he wasn't black people wouldn't even be talking about him.

There are much better candidates in the Democratic party that have accomplished much more - John Edwards and John Biden to name two.

I hope you are not voting for him because he is good looking or because he has a good personality.

No, in my opinion there are not better canidates for Presidency. The majority of the Democratic party position has become whatever position Bush isn't. This is best seen in how they insisted that Social Security is fine as it is after Bush presented a new plan. No, Social Security isn't fine. I like Obama because he has an ability to communicate with actual people. He speaks to me, and that's important.

A teacher once asked me (during the Tigers shot at the World Series) if they had ever cared about politics as much as they currently care about baseball. And I never really have. Politicians do an awful job at representing American interests, and I feel like voting has become an act of choosing the lesser of two evils. And that isn't okay. Obama's talk about a "New Politics" makes a lot more sense to me than Edwards, Biden, or Clinton ever will.

And it's not just because he's black.

Unfortunately, "good looking" is a major factor with millions of voters......

I recently asked a question about what kind of "experience" a presidential candidate should have. Most people answered that a willingness to serve and knowledge of the Constitution were more important than any particular political experience. In fact, most would like to see someone who isn't a professional politician!

But as soon as a Black man steps up to the plate, we start to hear about "experience"...Why??

Biden lost me completely with his "articulate...clean" comment about Obama; he showed his true "colors" on that one!

Its an easy one to fall for. Listen to Catrion there, she has clearly bought the "Yeah I represent poor folk like you" spiel. He is a good, clear and more importantly, a convincing speaker. The fact that he has relatively little on his political resume should warn you not about him, but the people who are FUNDING HIM.

Do you really beleive Bush controls the US ?
The fact that we already know that the next US president allegedly HAS to be black or a woman, surley tells us that the person in question is not relavent at all.

How scary is that?

Not a particularly standout law career? I think being President of the Harvard Law Review is quite a distinction (one his fellow politicians lack) plus he taught constitutional law at the Unviersity of Chicago.

His political experience compares favorably with Abraham Lincoln's, who had one (1) term in the Hosue before he was elected President. and who had LOST a race for the Senate.

And Bush's resume is the most shockingly bad of any President!

He a very articulate intelligent man who is bringing fresh ideas and a new perspective onto the future of America.

He does have a short but very successful political career, he is highly educated and outspoken. He faces rumors and accusation, and controversy with dignity.

It would be refreshing to have a politician who is more in tune with the people, one who is not afraid to face media scrutiny. What America needs most politically is accountability.

Here is your answer, after the ape that you have chosen to be your president for the last 7 years it is clear that the American public want to steer well clear of any white neo con males. Maybe you should have voted with a little more intelligence since 2000.

Good point. Actually he should not be called black, technically he is a mulatto. His mother is white. Not much emphasis is placed on that. Lets say Rudy was half Italion and was running around saying I'll be the first Italion president. Many would say this guy is streching it. But of course race is not important. Also, I resent that in his speach the other day he said,"we need to awake from our slumber." What slumber? We are pro active against terrorism and the ecomomy is booming. As you stated, he is running on race and no record.

Wow. There are 18 answers as I write this. Most of them say because he's black, or young, or articulate. Only one answer came close to discussing his agenda. So being young, black, and articulate is reason enough to elect him as Commander-in-Chief of the most powerful nation on earth? God, we're screwed...

Edit 02/14/2007: 25 answers now, still no reason to vote for him except that he is a good speaker. Does anybody remember Hitler? He was a mesmerizing public speaker...

This guy is not qualified to hold an executive office in a small business. Neither is John Edwards or Joe Biden. So don't the democrats have anyone better to put up on the field besides these idiots?

Because we live in a country where more people vote for American Idol than for president. And also the most important thing about the next president is whether they are going to be black or female. It has nothing to do with important issues like foreign policy, education, economy.
