My husband writes in a journal. So do I. The word "diary" can come across as feminine. Personally, I use those black and white composition books for my journal. My husband uses just a standard spiral notebook. Some people use the computer as well.

I think is a good idea for anyone to keep a "Journal", or "Diary". Personally it helps me express my feelings. If I am depressed, sad, happy, or whatever feeling I want to express I can because noone gets into it. Its not girly, unless you want it to be. If you think its girly, dont tell anyone your doing it. Or use a regular notebook, instead of something that is called a "journal", or a "diary". If you want to do it.

"a commonplace written record of (oftentimes personal) reports and observations" it is quite ok! Says no longer some thing in that definition or any about in trouble-free terms ladies writing diaries. i imagine that it is actual that no longer as many boys keep a diary as ladies yet that is because no longer many boys would properly be afflicted to jot down their day. With ladies... properly we delight in spending time over issues... making it look neat and regardless of. that is easily equipped into our brains. besides the undeniable fact that this for sure would not practice to anybody. solid success :)

Maybe if you called it a journal you wouldn't find it so girly. A lot of men keep journals. They are especially helpful if you want a career as a writer. Plus it is cool to be able to look back on your life. It isn't all about writing about who you think is cute and your dream wedding. :)

Yeah, it's fine. Who says boys can't write in a diary? Don't let other people tell you what to think. Do what you want.

Sure, why not? It doesn't have to be pink with unicorns on it. It can be a journal of thoughts (aka-diary). Many people like to keep track of their thoughts and feelings. And it is a useful tool for writers.

It's fine. It may help you remember your teen years when you are older. But I doubt you would want to start each entrance "Dear Diary".... Just get a plain book and write in it.
