They are a musical group.

They should not be expressing their political opinions, no matter what they are.

Plus they stink.

YES. But that's the only reason anyone likes any of the new music - the bands and singers symbolize something. Musically there's very little talent out there now. Seriously I like Flea but when the Red Hot Chili Peppers are by far the best pop group, that's pretty sad.

Really - take a slightly-above-average white rock band from the 1970s - - say BOC - - nothing now even comes close to them. You can't possibly compare today's music with the best music from other eras - it's like comparing a double-A team with the White Sox.

The only new black music that's remotely good is good only because it samples Isaac Hayes and other good funk artists from the 1970s.

The white music is simplistic and the handful of songs with a catchy melody are complete ripoffs - "I Think I'm In Love" for example, is "Paperback Writer."

I just don't understand singers spouting off about current events. Most pop stars are school dropouts. I don't want to hear Bono's thoughts on the economy any more than I want Larry Kudlow to put out a CD.

Radio disc jockeys across the states were interviewed at random. They were asked if they would start playing the DC's music again since they had that grammy sweep. Their answers.... "NO". It seems that people do not appreciate singers and celebrities going to a foreign country and bashing the president.... no matter what opinions are. I think they are talented song writers and musicians, but their fan base has dwindled by 2/3 rds ( according to music board polls)... and that's a lot of people !!! The bottom line... is they were out of line to go to a foreign country and attempt to air dirty laundry.

Yes but only because people in this country always look to high school drop outs for their political inspiration because we all know that people who spent their whole lives playing a guitar know a lot more about foreign policy and the middle east than professionals.

Personally, I think they got all those awards because of a political stance rather than a musical accomplishment and I actually like their music but I think there were better artists this year.
Also, I think people are tired of celebrities using their status to espouse controversial opinions. They absolutely have a right to their opinion but I don't want to feel like I have to hear about it on my time. Remember Tom Cruise and his attack on Brooke Shields if you don't believe me. If you're being interviewed about a movie or your music then talk about that. If you want to declare your political or religious positions do it on your own time.

I like them for their music. I admire them for their courage to speak up in what they believe! We live in a country that has fought for freedom of speech. In this day and age you can only say bad things about a President if he is a Democrat. If you say you don't agree with Bush or any Republican for that matter & You get called a traitor! Is that fair?

Nnooo. The Dixie Chicks were popular before they decided to exercise their constitutionally protected right of free speech. They should have won a Grammy in the shape of a middle finger, directed at the cons who wanted to punish them financially simply for voicing an opinion.

I don't know about other's but I hated them before they pulled the publisity crap. Now I just hate the same as I always hated them and the hoopla around them just got me two points.

Actually, i think that's the ONLY reason they won so many Grammys....the entertainment industry is VERY elitist that way.
Especially since most traditional country fans have banned the CHIXIE DIXS.

Not just that, they put out pretty good music and the fact they know 9/11 was an inside job too helps out.
