I used to when I subbed. It didn't really put anyone off.

All the time! I'm a guide in a history theme park now, which means we walk around in period clothing, including if we want bare feet, or home-made leather shoes. However before that I've worked at an internet helpdesk barefoot, and also done a temp job barefoot packing rubber products (my tourism job is seasonal, nowadays I can do some maintenance work in winter, fixing clothes, looms, etc, etc but the first winter I did some temp work through an agency).

I never wear footwear anywhere, it's uncommon but I don't think it has anything to do with courtesy! Several high-up people for example in the IT prefer to be barefoot on the job too. Bare feet are neither nasty or dangerous (well, in some jobs like construction, but not in the office!), and in some cultures they're actually a sign of *respect* rather than carelessness or sloppiness... treading gently on the Earth, humbleness, etc, etc... I think it's sad in the US feet are looked at so negatively.

NO! Even when I was alone in the office. I was on surveillance, and watched the whole place on cameras.

I was required to call a supervisor and report it if I saw an employee going barefoot. Made the supervisor enforce the rule. Too easy to have a serious accident. We had a strict rule about it.

Not exactly, I´m not working right now, because I´m studying. But I walk around barefoot while I´m studying at home, or friend´s places.... ;)

I love going barefoot all the time. Even at work. I'm a carpenter and when conditions are not hazzardous I work barefoot. Feels great.

Yes, I do!! My office has two floors and I am lucky enough to work on the second floor where NO clients go! Most of us up here either walk around barefoot or in slippers all day. When we do go downstairs we put our shoes back on.

Yes, if i am employed as a lifeguard. But seriously, why would you want to walk around in an office barefoot, that can make you look very unprofessional. It can also give your company a bad image.

Sounds like something they do in Kentucky. If you're a chick and you don't like uncomfortable shoes than don't wear uncomfortable shoes. Men don't walk around barefoot because we buy shoes for comfort rather than looks. If a woman wants to be taken seriously at work then they should do so by way of merit instead of wardrobe. Keep your shoes on because no one wants to see your gnarled up chicken feet.
