I wrote a couple of poems for this guy I really like, but he's been quite cruel to me. He told me that Robert Frost is turning in his frozen grave and that I should stop writing poems because I have no talent. He was really mean and said that I should keep my day job. This guy is nice though and I know I can win his heart with my poetry so I keep trying. He's medium height, and since it's almost Valentine's day I have titled my new poem appropriately.

What's your opinion? Can you tell me before I send it to him?

My Medium Height Valentine

when I think of you my heart enlarges and pumps
hundreds of love-litres of blood to keep me warm
is my blood is my skin and feet thinking of you
are nice and kind and friendly and medium height
is taller than short which is fine because your nice
like spring days and winter mornings and boiled oats
make me strong and keep me fit so they're good
for you and me so we are good together
we cannot be for a few more days - - endless hours
go by fast like speeding eurostar trains
which I can ride to my final destination
your heart and oat-strengthened body and mind
will you be my medium-height Valentine?

I think it's absolutely BRILLIANT. I am in tears just thinking of the line "medium height is taller than short which is fine because your nice". How very beautiful. Robert Frost would become enraged with envy. "Warm is my blood is my skin thinking of you are nice" - poetry of the finest degree! Splendid. Shakespeare would recognize how little meaning he evokes in his sonnets after reading this. My heart is all a-flutter. I too have always sought that lover with "the heart and oat-strengthened body and mind." Wow. I'm on the shorter side for a female - do you think you can write me a poem? You really should contact a publisher immediately. What depth of feeling! What a lot of blood!

Lord, put your name to this one and give it to him.

Valentine Hell

February the Fourteenth
Comes only once a year.
Taunted by the fact
You are the one I want near.

Created for couples so
Their love might take flight
Overwhelmed with feelings for
You to which I’ve no right.

In denial of the truth
So long I tried to hide.
Refusing to acknowledge
What continues to grow inside.

Precious to me is
What it is that you are.
It pains me that I can
Only love you from afar.

Praying is of no use and
There are no magic charms
That will allow me to
Hold you tightly in my arms.

In an ideal world
For me it would be bliss
To bring to you a life
Full of joy and happiness.

One look in your eyes and
My heart becomes tender.
My resistance gives way.
Unconditionally I surrender.

What would you do?
What would you say?
If you knew that I
Love you more each day.

What I want and what I need
Cuts through me like a knife.
For what I wouldn’t give
To become part of your life.

Alone with my thoughts
I cannot help but feel blue
That my Valentine’s wish
Can never, ever come true.

e e cummings would be proud (apart from the title) - and why do I get a sense of Hillaire Belloc in there? :)

BTW a nifty trick when you decide to have oats and hot milk on those very cold days - add a small tot of whisky - it really brings out the flavour.

Ciao Caro

I thought it was lovely, Dearest, and if he's your lover and he's being cruel to you, he certainly doesn't deserve a poem from your heart. That's where poems come from (even the worst ones, which this isn't..I've read far far nastier). Truckinotter once tore me a valentine from a peice of notepaper which I've kept for the last 15 years. This last year she carved one with her pocket knife. They don't have to be gorgeous. They just have to come from the heart. That's where yours has. if he can't see that, he doesn't deserve it or you. Blessings.

You poem is beautiful but please don't waste it on him. Give it to someone who will appreciate it. I've been divorced for almost 13 years now but every poem he ever wrote me from day one I still have because they came from the heart. You deserve someone who has as big a heart as you do

Hi Gay Lord - my glasses are fogged up from laughing again - you certainly do have some creativity and original thoughts. But, until you can get some rhymes and cadence to your literary efforts, I'm afraid I would have to agree with the dude that said to keep your day job. However, You can still be my valentine:)

God would not hate homosexuals. He hates homosexuality. It hurts Him that a number of His creation can stay such immoral and disgusting existence. yet, He loves them. And BTW, that's no longer made up! they actually have a collection referred to as godhatesfags. seem it up. God Loves You! whether you do no longer choose to renowned Him. he will continually love you.

you have talent in writing poems hunny.. keep writing them at least you are trying hard and its coming from your heart. If he doesnt like them then thats too bad... some people just don't know how to appreciate small things are being given to them.

Perhaps you're boyfriend is bantering! I would have LOVED if my boyfriend would have written something for me. I would have found it wonfderful even if it was crappy.

But yours was really good. I'm no pro in poetry but the feelings were obvious.

Hope it works!
