song goes the the song writer, record goes to the artists

If i had a dollar for everytime this question popped up this week. I'd buy a Grammy.

Best song goes to songwriter and people behind the scene. best record goes to the performer.

Could've just searched this one and saved yourself some points.

The best song honors all the people who wrote the song ar assisted in writing the original version, not the poepl who helped record it. Best record honors the artist only who the song is recorded by. It's usually on one of their albums, like the Dixie Chicks' song that won best record is on their album, "Take the Long Way".
