Okay, right now I am working for McDonalds supply chain, basically tracking and tracing carriers and their trucks across the country and making sure everything runs smooth making 35,000 in Pittsburgh, my home town. I'm living at home and getting home cooked meals, laundry done for me, all my friends are here, and it's my comfort zone. I recently got offered a job with u.s. steel in gary, indiana (near Chicago) being a production foreman in training making 50 k a year. I was thinking about living near Wrigley field in Chicago. Anyways, the McDonalds job is an office job in front of a computer where I can surf the web for like three hours a day and its real easy going. But the u.s. steel job is in the mill where i would be supervising union workers and getting bitched at alot by upper management. U.S. steel would also pay for an MBA degree after a year which would be HUGEEE. Which job would you take???????

If you see yourself sitting in front of a computer and surfing the net 35 years from now, stay with the Golden Arches, family and friends. But if you want to make a future, go with US Steel, (the union guys are OK; management can be a pain), get the MBA, and move up.

I think you should leave. Just leave. Take the job or not you need to get away from your home town. It's time to explore what's out there.
The steel job looks like it'll open doors by giving you an MBA. This is an investment in your future.

I think it is time to be a man and move away from home. It is a better job and opportunity to make a life for yourself and one day a family. If you end up not liking the job you can always go to school on them and then change your job to something you really like or always move back home. I did it and it was the best decision I ever made.

It all depends. One job seems dead end and the other seems to be going somewhere. Do you want to get out of your moms house and move forward (no sarcasm) or do you want to keep surrounding yourself with the comforts you have but not go anywhere. I think you should branch out. US Steel sounds like the right way in every way, besides comfort. Make a pro vs. cons list. Decide off that.

Easy going is only a good thing for so long - eventually you're going to have to take a step forwards, and it sounds like you have an opportunity to take that step with a lot of added benefits. I'd go for it - but ultimately, it's up to you!

I would take the new job.
Trust me you won't want to be stuck at Mickey D's later when you want to start a family. Time to move out and go your own way. Look at it as a great future opportunity and if you truly hate it look for something else.

Keep your current job. Gary is a s*ithole, and a steel mill is a tough place to work.
