i think it's bc that's when you usually get up to leave the rm and they want to make sure you can hear it all the way in the next room, getting a snack or using the rr or whatever you are doing during commercials...

Commercials are louder than the tv shows because you get up to go to the kitchen, bathroom, etc while the commercial is on, and the makers of the commercial want you to HEAR their advertisement from any room in the house.
I learned this in Journalism class when I was in high school.
For MANY years now I have been MUTING the tv whenever a commercial comes on! lol
Cheers

commercials are louder than the television exhibits pondering the actual reality that you upward thrust as a lot as pass to the kitchen, bathing room, etc on an same time because the corporate is on, and the makers of the corporate choose you to take heed to their commercial from any room interior the abode. i got here across this in Journalism style even as i replaced into in intense college. for some years now I somewhat were MUTING the television each and every time a commercial comes on! lol Cheers

Actually, they used to increase the volume until people complained and the FCC made it illegal. To get around this they "compress" the sound - it's more intense, but technically within the volume guidelines. If there's a commercial that's particularly annoying you can report it to the FCC and the TV station. Some newer TV's also have circuits that automatically adjust the volume to even out the programs and commercials.

I once heard that this is done for people who get up to run to the kitchen or bathroom during the break. That way, they can still hear the commercial when away from the TV. I have no idea if this is true though. I use DVR so I just fast forward thru the commercials.

Because people tend to walk away during commercials to do other things, the volume goes up to grab their attention and so they can hear the commercial in another room. I hate it when that happens!

They want you to come back to see what ever it is that they are advertising... since you probably got up when the commercials started...

They know that people get up to get something or do something while it is commercializing. I hit the mute button if I am just sitting there
