I take 5-htp, St. John's Wort, gingko biloba, acidophilus, a b-complex, and a multivitamin throughout each day, not all at the same time. Is there anything I should be aware of? Harmful effects, interactions, or anything else I should know? Thanks in advance for your help!

I found a great website talking about 5-htp. There are a lot of contraindications and possible drug interactions listed so I'll just give you the link: http://www.advance-health.com/5htp.html

St. John's wort can interact with antidepressant drugs, as you probably already know. And it can increase your skin's sensitivity to sun and make you more likely to burn.

Ginkgo should not be taken with aspirin or blood-thinning drugs, as it will enhance the blood thinning properties.

I am not familiar with the interaction of St John's Wort. Do be sure to tell a physician about what you take in case of need for prescription medications. Acidophilus is fine. I did my research on vitamin C so I always recommend vitamin C, which is water soluble and you will only absorb what you need. You can always take B and C vitamins with a multiple.

The supplements you take are fine so long as you are not taking prescription meds too.
