you wear them instead of pantyhose....much more comfortable and if you get a tear in one, you just put another 1 on, you dont ruin the whole pair....

The word stockings is rarely used nowadays. Stockings were pre panty hose days. You needed to wear a garter belt. The garter belt had four clips hanging from it, two for each leg, back and front. The clips were attached to the garter belt on a strip of elastic. The stockings reached your upper thigh and you used the clips to hold them up. Panty hose took over from stockings and garter belts around the mid 1960's. From personal experience I can tell you they were not very comfortable. Yay for panty hose! I hope this helps.

Stockings are nylon tights that go from the toe to mid thigh and are either held up by a set of suspenders or you can get hold ups which have an elastic section at the top.
I wear stockings when it's hot and to avoid having the waistband of tights ruining the line of a dress.

Stockings are like pantyhose or tights, without the ugly panty part. In other words they are two individual nylon leg coverings like very long sheer socks, and they are the sexiest thing any woman can wear, as well as being way more comfortable and practical than pantyhose.

I wear stockings every day to the office, and when going out at night. I hate pantyhose, they are too confining and uncomfortable.
You can wear stockings any time you want, they are just leg covering, that are individual and not attached like a pair of trousers like pantyhose. they are very much more attractive and comfortable to war, and the guys think they are super sexy too.

Stockings usually refers to full length sheer leg coverings. They were the predecessor to pantyhose, and still popular as a sexy alternative.
