Well, according to wikipedia, Thomas Jefferson was the fourth best president following George Washington, Abraham Lincoln and Franklin Delano Roosevelt.

One of his major presidential mishaps may be the embargo act of 1807, which drastically ruined the economy of the country.

Jefferson is generally regarded as one of the great presidents, he is usually ranked 4th or 5th in most surveys of historians.
