A temp agency sent me to work in accounts payable and when I first started, the owner told me to present the bills to him with the invoice, receiving report, purchase order ,and Certificate of Conformance but I can't remember what order he told me to put them in. I don't want to ask him because I would like to avoid the 30 minute lecture and giving him the impression that I don't pay attention.

The company I work for stacks them like this. Certs on bottom, then receiving info, then purchase order and finally the invoice on top. Hope this helps.

Put the invoice in the order which they need to be paid. Start from the oldest outstanding to the most recent ones. The most recent ones should be at the bottom of the order and the oldest should be at the top of the order. Usually most business are on net 30 so those invoices need to be at the order of payment due to keep in good standing. So the oldest should be on top and work your way down. good luck
