I'm assuming this is for a job application. It's one of those bullshit things that all people have to pay lip service to, along with an enthusiasm for Health & Safety. BilleLee has described it and the importance of it very succinctly, so give your answer along these lines.

Diversity refers to having an environment that includes people from different races, genders and ethniciites providing a richer and more "full spectrum" perspective on issues at hand. Diversity is also very important in nature. In the 1930's Wisonsin Elm trees were ravaged by the Dutch Elm disease. If you drive around sometimes you'll see VAST patches of empty forest where the Elms used to be. The areas were there wa more diversity in vegetation are not damaged, due to the fact that when one species was hit hard the others filled in.
Diversity brings the coveted "thinking outside of the box" idea to reality because bright and educated people of different backgrounds have little overlap of ideas and can expand the realm of imagination, innovation and creativity all resulting in greater problem solving. And problem solving is ultimately the goal of every business and profession.

When I was young, most people in this country were white. Then a huge number of people were allowed into this country (for some reason) and we now have about 92% white and 8% non-white.

We have had nothing but trouble since. We were never meant to live together in the first place and we would all be much happier in our own countries.

Politically-correct people (some of them apparently psychotic) seem to have decided that the only way to cope with this horrendous situation is to call it 'diversity' and say that 'it improves society.'

It obviously doesn't. So then we have threats and vilification. 'How dare you whites say that you don't want non-white people here', and other such patronising nonsense.

In places such as Leicester, Southall, Heston, Balham, Aston and Bolton, the percentages of non-whites are more like 90% if the numbers in the streets are anything to go by.

We are stuck with this. So, to stop us all going mad we have to all pretend that we love each other and play along with the game. Parts of London are fast becoming like Atlanta - give it 10 years or so and we'll have armed police on the streets permanently.

The cause of this ruination of Britain? Immigration.

Diversity refers to employment of people in a firm from a wide variety of national and cultural backgrounds. I think that first and foremost, it is important to have the best people work for/with you. That having been said, a diverse workforce reflects well upon the diverse marketplace to which we all sell. And diversity of backgrounds in the staff often allows us to discover insights as to the human condition which might not be apparent to a workforce all of the same culture and background.

mainly it refers to the mix of people in a workplace and also the labour market, more specificly it represents the different nationalities in the population. Most companies are now appreciating the need for diversity like access to greater creativity, a lot of companies also now embrace diversity to uphold good social responsibility, provide equality opportunities and create competitive advantage (esp intellectual assets - the greater pool of knowledge)...hope this helps

Diversity is not important. It's just a bulls**t excuse for somebody to get something (money, a job) they didn't earn.
