I am guessing that you mean it is curling up around the edges...it is most likely the turtle's molting process. At least,I think that's what it is called! They will lose some of the "plates" on their shells as they grow-it's the shell's way of growing. Now, it could also been a nutrition deficiency, which is actually fairly simple to fix. Get some reptile vitamins (you can usually find it in a powder form) and sprinkle it on the little guys food. I think there is also some you can add to the water or put onto the shell. A small animal doctor can give you some advice. Honestly though, your turtle is most likely just growing, and his shel is shedding some old plates. PS-DON'T TRY TO HELP BY PULLING THEM OFF!!! They need to fall off when they get ready (they'll get dry and flakey). Doing it before then can damage the shell. Good luck!

This depends a lot on what you mean by 'turning up'.

Flakes are curling along the edges of scales? That would be normal shedding.

The entire shell is curving upwards on the edges, including the bony part? That is probably one of the calcium or diet related metabolic diseases. To help with that, you need to tell us the turtle's species, size, diet, and care conditions.

You can try http://www.austinsturtlepage.com for help as well. The Medical Info page for treatments, the Care Sheets for the right cares, the discussion groups for other advice, etc.

He or she is either in need of companionship, or they have already received it and you are about to be a granny.
