I have stayed at both...Monte carlo's Delux room is a glorified Holiday Inn room with nothing special....EVEN the Standard room at Mandalay exceeds their Suites!
I pick Mandalay all the way baby....and I always win more there too!

I stay at Mandalay Bay every month and love the resort. The distance between the two is a matter of three long "Las Vegas" blocks, but they're in the same vicinity on the southern tip of the strip.
Mandalay Bay is actually three hotels in one huge resort, and the rooms are just clean and luxurious as any of the other popular hotels in that city. Dining, shopping and gambling there, as well as the pool, is just something to behold and and experience for seasoned visitors and the first timers.
Monte Carlo is just as luxurious as the Mandalay Bay resort but is a bit smaller. The outside architecture is extremely cool and great for picture taking. It's an imposing resort on the strip that is also worth staying at.

Mandalay bay is really nice, but more expensive and located at the far end of the strip.
Monte Carlo is a perfectly nice hotel, but not as fancy and exotic as Mandalay Bay. It's more centrally located on the Strip, near more stuff.

Mandalay Bay all the way. Trust me you will not be dissapointed. I've been to Las Vegas several times now this past year.

Mandalay Bay is the best, I've stayed there twice. It is just so relaxing, that you sometimes forget you are on the strip. And my wife loved the spa there!!!!!

Mandalay Bay!!! especially if you have kids becuase there is this really neat aquarium down stars! its beautiful and cool. Also it is a great place to stay . the staff is great! and the casio is fabulous!
Monto Cristo is good too but there is a bunch of tourist everywhere!
