B. Moss is a great store.
So is Target.

I think that the key word here for fashion is "sophistication."
Personally, I kind of hate when people talk about dressing too "old" or "young" for their age. In other words, I think you should be able to wear what you want. Just because you're in your forties or fifties doesn't mean that you're not a woman anymore. Having said that, I can understand that some people worry about being too "hoochy."
If you're looking for a more mature and classic look, you could try this.
Button-down shirts/blouses, jeans that aren't too trendy (by that, I mean classic cuts and styles), trousers that are straight leg in neutral colors (black, gray, tan, brown, even some pinstriped), fitted blazers and other structured jackets, pencil skirts, a-line skirts, 3/4 length sleeved tops (can be v-necked, wrap tops, etc), wrap dresses, pea coats or trenches.
Accessories are where you can have inexpensive fun with chunky, long, beaded necklaces, dangley earrings, scarves, belts, etc.
Although you may not like the show What Not to Wear, I've noticed that a lot of things they pick out for women are things that will look good years from now.

Also, be aware when choosing color. Bright colors are great, but sometimes jewel-toned shades are more sophisticated. Having said that, color can be great to add some flair to an otherwise neutral and drab wardrobe.
Fit is important. In a classic look, it seems that nothing is ever too tight or baggy.
Having said all of that, wear whatever YOU feel good in.

Great for you. . .I don't want to dress too old either!! I'll be 45 this summer (and still a size 8) and I am in NO WAY ready for the old lady clothes - better known as the "country coordinates" Yikes! However I don't want to look like I am trying to be 16 either. I too love my jeans and my trendy wear. I find a lot of my clothing from Victoria Secret - I also try to stay with the classics and then throw something in that is new and trendy. A lot of times you can make it work. I think Cold Water Creek has some nice stuff, but even that is leaning towards the "older" look. Best of luck to you.

Nope.mama, u wear what u want as long as it is becoming to your shape. Figure out what part you want to showcase with each outfit you wear..take some time in the morning, put on some music and have a little fashion show before work. Just remember to figure in your best attributes and showcase one at a time daily..(ie.), wear a skirt one day to showcase legs, but with a long sleeved covered up top, or vice versa. A dress always looks chic as its easy and put together, try a wide belt, boots, or cute heels..ala' Oprah. Good Luck..Have fun..Live Life!

Go for it---as long as you still look classy! My mother is 46--not to far off from 50 and within the past two years ive been revamping her style ...lower rise jeans but not too low!, and making sure theyre bootcut...shirts in a fashionalble and popular style but with a good cut and fit for her shape and shoes and accessories that go with the outfit but arent too "teenager-ish" (like jelly bracelets or multiple headbands) but more like classy multistarnd necklaces and drop earrings, slides with a kitten heel for sexy calves..etcetc....i like the way she looks and the smile on her face when she wears something hip and current with style trends...i certainly dont want to be all frumpy when im that age and can understand your not wanting to be! Keep it classy and fresh and just dont over do it! We shop just about anywhere from the mall (gap, old navy, marshall feilds) to walmart (theyve gotten alot better with keeping with current styles!!) as for your size hun a 9/10 isnt too bad!!! I wouldnt worry too much about the 30 lbs you want to lose you should look really good if you dress to fit your shape and body style! a 9/10 at 50 isnt bad at all!!! Best of luck to ya!

I don't see a problem, just go ahead and wear what you like as long as you are satisfied with what you see in a mirror. Of course in formal occasions you should wear appropriate clothes, for example, it's inappropriate to wear mini skirt in an office, no matter of your age, it's inappropriate for a 20-year old, as well as for a 50-year old woman.

Heck no. If you have the body and the attitude for it...go for it. Just remember chic is not trashy. My sister is also 50....she thinks that showing her mid-riff is okay at her age...it's not! You can dress fashionably in a tasteful manner and still project the youthful image that you seek.
