I hit Start ... Stand By comes up on a little screen along with Shuting the computer down and Restarting it...I hit Stand By and it goes to Stand By for 1 or 2 seconds and snaps right back on to the screen. How do I get Stand By to come on and stay on?

There might be something that is taking your pc right out from stand by. Have you tried reducing the sensitivity on your mouse? Also, try and go to control panel>Mouse and then click on Hardware tab. Click on the properties button at the bottom. In the new windows that comes up, click on power management and uncheck "allow this device to bring the computer out of stand by".

On my pc I have an older AGFA scanner that causes error with the Windows Image Aquisition (WIA) service and prevents Stand By. If I shut down the WIA service then my pc will Stand By properly. Look in Event Viewer for possible causes like a Windows Service or device driver that may be preventing your pc from entering Stand By. If a Windows Service is indicated, stop the Service. If device driver is the cause, uninstall the driver. Contact the devices manufacturer for updated driver or other solution.
