I ask the most ridiculous questions like is it ok to sleep with her sister and people genuinely believe i'm being serious. Some of the responses you can feel the hatred, its ace. I bet some people will even get wound up about this. How easy is it to wind people up!

i knew it the same people getting p*ssed off! i think its cause they realise they've answered questions like is it my fault she's 24 stone and are midgets little criminals.
if your one of those who answered seriously, dont get all flustered and angry at me, its not my fault we dont share the same sense of humour, i'm not harming anyone, giving bogus advice. just asking the odd question to provoke answers that make me laugh. if you dont get it your a lesser human than those that do, ok bye.

Not full but there are plenty.
The problem is yours though as this site also has lots of people with serious issues who obviously feel they can't get an answer from anyone around them and need to resort to an anonymous site like this. You cheapen their real plight and taint the attitude of people who would have tried to give them a real answer but are put off by jerks like you.
You need to make it a bit clearer that you having a laugh - you don't need to spell it out - just a tongue-in-cheek style that you don't seem to be able to get the hang of. There are plenty of good examples of this being done well on this site and you should seek them out and learn a thing or two about being genuinely satirical - if you know what that means of course.

If you post a question, how could we possibly know if you are being serious or joking? In fact, if you're joking, you're kind-of violating the intention of Yahoo! Answers, so it makes sense that people would be confused. Now, I like amusing questions as much as the next person, but I prefer it when I can distinguish real things from fake things. Part of what you may forget is that some people really might ask, in seriousness, a question like "is it okay to sleep with my gf's sister?" because, at least in my experience, there are people who will do that type of thing in real life. So I guess, if you ask a crazy question, expect the answers you get?

I am beginning to believe most people on this planet are idiots. Life is much more complicated when you are intelligent- which is why my New Years Resolution for 2007 is "the year of ignorance". Since ignorance is bliss, and most stupid people seem unaffected by what is really going on, I thought "I want a piece of that!" I would love to just coast through life with a stupid grin on my face, sleep easy at night, do whatever I wanted with no regard to other people. So far, it's been difficult.

I do it all the time..Non Welsh- speaking Welshmen are an easy target..just say they are not proper Welshmen.Unmarried mothers, benefit claimants etc hate being reminded they are scroungers.Atheists hate it when believers say they have a strong faith.Women hate it when you remind them that the fastest, strongest and more successful people are men.Homosexuals hate it when you point out that the majority of people find their practices abhorrent.I've been reported by these naive people often.Sarcasm goes over the heads of many of these...I agree it's fun to wind them up .Carry on..I will.

To answer your question, here are the types of Yahoo Question Aswerers:
Helpers: People who answer questions because they like to help others.
Jerks: People who only answer questions rudly.
Stupid People: People who answer questions in stupid or mean ways just to gain points.
Honest People: People who answer questions saying the exact thing they're thinking.
Combos: People who are more than one.
I personally am an honest one, though combined a bit with nice. I answer things nicely, but sometimes can be a sarcastic jerk. I just say what I'm thinking, though I do usually try to keep it nice if cruelty or meaness isn't (in my view) neccesary.

Someone might be genuinely asking the questions you consider ridiculous. It's better to give sensible advice to an idiot asking stupid questions than risk misinfoming or ignoring a person in need.

Yeah, I know. It's quite fun sometimes, you know. Ask a question and people nearly hammer their keyboard to death as they type out a response that you would think they are going to hunt you down.
And you'll probably be called ignorant too, people seem to love that word. They'll use it for Qs about race to peanutbutter to paper.

The written word can easily be misunderstood. If you were speaking to people, they could tell by your tone of voice and your expressions whether you were serious or not. Reading the words doesn't tell you that.
As in life, this site has it's share of geniuses and morons.
