Even better there are "freecycle" groups where these might be available. If you "cannot afford" a new one what HP company would finance it? Consider second hand.

If - as you put it - yours has "packed up" it might be very simple to fix. It is unusual for everything to go. Usually just a ring or element goes. It might be as simple as the fuse at the main distribution board. Do you know of anyone who could check although if you call someone out that would cost you!

Dont buy one - Register with the nearest 'www.freecycle.com' and put a 'wanted' ad on. There will be plenty of people wanting to get rid of an old cooker if they're updating.

Helps save the planet also............

Hi, don't know know where you live but in Hull East Yorkshire (UK) there is a web site called hullfreecycle.co.uk and this site is used for people who have stuff to offer and people who need stuff i.e. cookers, furniture, bikes, laptops etc. and no one pays for anything because everything is being recycled.
You may have a similar site in your area and it will save you having to go into debt.
good luck Morsel
