Go to your county Register of Deeds Or whatever County Official is responsible for keeping land records and do a title search. That should lead you to the original owners and may even say who built the home. If the builder is not listed then do a genological search on the original owners to locate decendents. With a little detective work and phone calls/letters you may find an answer.
Remember in the early 1800s many homes were built by the owners or as a community effort.
