A native of Indiana

I lived in Indiana for a couple of years, and I asked this question often.

I've yet to find a true definition of "Hoosier."

There are many theories, some of them linked to a name, a nickname or a location.

But, most folks seem to simply say that a "Hoosier" is someone from Indiana.

One thing about it, Indiana won't have to worry about other state's copying its nickname.

Someone from indiana. It's also the mascot of IU.

I'm from indiana originally and no one really knows what a hoosier is or where the term originated.

For well over a century and a half the people of Indiana have been called Hoosiers. The only comparable term in American experience is Yankee.
