I think it was very irresponsible from the Board of Education to NOT have cancelled classes today... Drivig it's pretty scary.. you can watch the storm right here:
http://www.intellicast.com/IcastPage/LoadPage.aspx?seg=LocalWeather&loc=kbuf&prodgrp=RadarImagery&product=RadarLoop&prodnav=none

As you can see we'r getting nothing right now.. it's going to get worst..
What do you suggest us to do in this cases?

Thank you.

Thunder: I'm not canadian and english is NOT my first language, I do speak 4 languages and I just wonder if you speak more than one or 2..
Nobody is perfect and if you criticize my grammar and or spelling, then you should answer different questions. I'm obviously concern about this, because in my country doesn't even snow and I just don't understand 2 months ago we had "snow day" with -5 C and 2 cms of snow and now we have over 30 cms of snow and we have -30C.. I'm concern about my children... was just a simple question.. Mr Perfect :)

Hello from Oklahoma, United States.

From what I can see the conditions in your area are somewhat dangerous. School boards often make their decisions on how the local population "opperates on a normal scale". Example of that is here in the United States in states like Ohio, Wisconsin, etc, classes are not cancelled for school unless conditions are too dangerous for deiving and all NORMAL opperations have stopped. A good example is Milwaukee, WI. There if snow is deep enough to not allow walking and conditions have reached whiteout conditions with blizzard warnings in affect, classes for most school distrcts are then cancelled. However, let's take Ardmore Oklahoma whee I am now. Here if it snows more than 3 inches and streets are slick enough to promote accidents, then classes are cancelled.

As for your additional comment, I am an English speaking American - and in my schooling it will be necessary to speak at least 1 more. In this district they concentrate on spannish speaking areas sense I am near Texas. This area has multiple segmants - Indian, Spannish, and then smaller segmants of other cultures outside of the United States. I'm FAR LESS THAN PERFECT :)

Back to your question... Write an article and have it posted in your local Canadian newspaper. State fact as to why you think it should have been cancelled, and give reasons as to why you feel it should have been. The more factual information you give the more likely they will hear your suggestions.

Good luck and I hope that helps you out.

Sincerely,
Brian R Cross.

I think your English is very good. There are people born in America who never seem to speak or write their language very well. You are courageous for tackling the English language so keep up the good work. This question of canceling school is one that is repeated in many cities of America. We in Washington, D.C., and particularly in Prince George's county Maryland are always trying to second guess the decision of the school authorities whether it be to stay open or to close. You can always make the decision yourself after watching the weather reports on TV. This is my suggestion.

Having lived there, I remember that there are only a certain number of snow days allowed. But if they don't use them they lose them. If they end up forced to take more the school year runs long.
SO if they have burned up too many they won't do it.
Political decisions, not safety.

Hey thunder.. I mean, Mr perfect.. it's grammar, not grammer.. so who's the one who can't afford to miss school?

hahahaha you're a racist!! people like you make me vomit.

Chanchi: Don't worry darling. Everything's going to be just fine. And yes, it is a huge storm. Schools should've been closed. Sometimes I don't understand the system either.

Regards.

Its Canada. You are supposed to be used to snow.

Plus based on all of the grammer and spelling mistakes in your message, you can't afford to miss any school.
