it's o.k to burn the first big paycheck on lavish things that were only a dream when they were still a lower class, struggling artist/actor. But why the obligation to do so continues?

That is a great question...I honestly don't have an answer but I do know that it is out of control. There are a few people who are celebs like Paul newman who give most of it away to those in need and live very basic life styles...but for the most part they do seem very obsessed with themselves. It makes me want to throw up when I see them wearing a bracelett or whatever the bobble du jour is that could feed a third world country, or help the needy in our own country...

I would think that at some point they would reach a "saturation" point as in enough is enough...but it doesn't really seem to happen...they have kids that the nanny raises, three four estates, ten twelve cars...possies...and then they complain like two year olds when they have an unflattering picture taken of them...I wonder how much they would complain if they were starving to death (not intentionally) and had no clean water or medicine...I like this question, I wish they could all see it and maybe think of someone other than themselves for at least a moment...

to stay in the spotlight that have to be glamorous and have the best of everything.

they have the money and lots of it so they might as well spend it- they earned it so they should be able to spend it any way they want.

if I was rich I'd own a few cars a few trucks, a huge house, a cabin far away, etc.

I do think they go over board but look at even just well off people. They'll spend $600 on a pair of heels.

Unfamous rich people do the exact same thing you just don't know about it since they're not famous!

I would rather buy lots of clothes than 1 outfit for $500. I guess I couldn't live the celeb life :( haha

However Reese Witherspoon and Faith Hill do not spoil their children. So I give them props for that. It's good to keep your children grounded so that they'll know in life that not everything just comes to you for free. that you need to work for your money.

Because before they couldn't. Think about it, you go into a store and nothing with a price tag matters. You can afford anything.

Why settle when you can have whatever you want whenever you want it. Im not syaing that it cool, but I understand.

If you can buy a nice pair of Gucci Shoes, are you goign to go to Payless, even if you loved their shoes before.

Also celebrities are constantly in teh spot light, so they have to look good, and so does everything they have.

That is a great question! I think when it comes to food I would always be a food snob! I do not like gourmet food! I love home cooking American , Mexican, Italian and Chinese. Caviar is gross. I can make you the best bacon gravy or loaded potatoes you will ever have. I just do not understand the gourmet foods. I love all types of mushrooms. I tried truffles and thought they were gross! Why be a label snob? It says alot about someone who needs a label to make them who they are!

They buy expensive things because they can. I would totally respect the actress that shows up on the red carpet in a dress from Target or Old Navy.

Or more importantly, why are we interested in what they have?
If the public didn't care, then they would have less pressure to always "look the part".
That and they have millions of dollars which makes it easy to indulge themselves. It seems to me, that an actors life is just continued acting when they are in that kind of limelight.

It's like a competition among other celebrities. ur nothing is you dont have the BEST of THE BEST...they look down at you...its weird lifestyle having everything yet always wanting more just to impress others.

i suspect that its easiest for them to do this, much of it is provided free by the designers, or the shops that sell the stuff deeply discount to them....also hard for them to go to Walmart without causing a mob scene, and the money doesnt matter if you have a limitless supply..

Its a shame that people with that much money cant put it to better use. One of those dresses could feed alot of starving children.

Because they can afford it and it fits with there lifestyle....to out do everyother celebrity. The fact that people even care what they spend there money on justifies it for them.
