I would like a good book about setting up and maintaining a freshwater aquarium. Preferably focused on guppies but if it is more general that's fine, too. Thank you:)

Baensch Aquarium Atlas Vol 1 is one of the very best out. It's not really cheap (about $50.00) but well worth every penny and with aquarium books you often get what you pay for.
Complete Encyclopedia of the Freshwater Aquarium By John Dawes is also a fine choice about 1/2 the price, but it does have less detail.
Sex, Color, and Mate Choice in Guppies By Anne E. Houde is a really hard hitting look at guppy care and breeding if you are really serious about them.
The same is true of websites. There are some really great ones out there but there are also some terrible sites as well. Until you know the basics and can tell a good site from a bad one, your best bet is a good aquarium book

I am starting up a freshwater aquarium, too, and two books that proved to be very helpful in telling almost everything there is to know about setting up and maintaining an aquarium.
The Complete Idiot's Guide to Freshwater Aquariums
and
The Simple Guide to Freshwater Aquariums (or something like that, I don't have the book in front of me)

there are some great websites out there for this, so you wouldn't even have to buy a book. a guppie aquarium is very easy to set up. just make your regular water changes, take care of the babies with a nursery net, and you will be all set. i am about to set up a guppy aquarium as well. i just need to find a supplier who has pretty fish to buy from. all the guppies at the stores near me ( Savannah) have ugly guppies. I have an aquarium now with 6 year old goldfish and they outgrew their tank so they have a new tank and i have my old one to set the guppies up in. Good Luck!! but it should be easy and fun for you.!

The Idiots Guide to Aquariums...or something like that. Its in a big line of books with "Idiots Guide To..."
