You don't travel with a turntable. You set it up in a very stable environment, make sure it is level and carefully adjust the tone arm so that the stylus will track the grooves properly according to it's specs. Then you carefully remove the vinyl record from its sleeve, touching it only at the edges. Then sit back and listen. Walking around while playing the turntable will often make the stylus skip.
