Double it up so that it matches at both ends wrap around your neck and loop the open part thru and pull down

If its long wrap it once across the neck and let the rest fall out, if you are not going to be in a car (ie. walking) then tuck the long piece that I advised to hang out into your coat , over your chest. Coordinate your scarves to boots and bags, in neutral colors..not matchy matchy but in a alternating color that brings it out. If you are wearing a short coat, wrap the scarf around multiple times. Have fun experimenting!!

You can wear it loosely around your neck or maybe take one end and throw it behind you while the other end hangs in front. Here's a few links to show you how to do it.
