My CPU suddenly refuses to boot-up.
The power light is on and the cooling fan turns on too
The last time it was working fine I was using Windows media player which froze completely after I tried opening a media file (which was very abnormal as I have been using the file many times before) I have also noticed that although the power light in the front is working, the HD light does not blink. I am not much of a PC expert and any help/suggestions will very much be appreciated. Thanks

Check the monitor connection. then...

Bare-Bones!

Remove everything from the comp that is not needed. all USB devices, extra RAM, extra Hard drives, and so-on. Then if it comes back up, start putting the stuff back one-by-one.

Are you hearing any BEEPS? BIOS will give you different beep codes and you can look in your manual to see what the corresponding beeps mean.

Does your PC key video when you start it up? Like when you power up, does the light on your monitor go from blinking amber to solid green/blue?

Can you see anything in the POST check?

Usually it's either your memory or your video card that has crapped out on you... if you hear any beeps that might help you out.

Are there any beeping noises?
Try swapping out the power supply with one you know is good.

Get back to me on the beeping noises, because they can tell a lot.
