I believe you should be allowed to do anything in the privacy of your own home as long as you are not hurting/harming or contributing to the hurt/harm (be it physical or emotional) of someone else in any way.

Why didn't you give us an example of something that we are not allowed to do, but you think we should be allowed to do. Some guidance please. If you wait a while I am sure that they will eventually make smoking illegal. Most of the laws and bye laws are there for a reason, otherwise some people would be imposible to live near to. Noisy, gardens like tips, abusive, flashing Christmas lights, drugs, prostitution, vandalism and kids out of control. There are endless possibilities.

What a person does to the interior of their house is entirely their own business. However, here in UK we have millions of historic houses who's fascia may not be allowed to be changed especially if there's an order banning it. My house was built in 1937. It would be foolish to change it's outward appearance. It simply blends in with all the other detached and semis in my street.

Any alterations to a property [a house] in UK require planning permission from the local authority. I believe the same rule probably applies in USA where the rules are probably even more stringent and where the local authority will send an inspector to check work when it's finished and will actually condemn that work if it is not up to standard.

Yes they should be able to do what they want. If the government would stay out of peoples affairs with how they correct their kids there wouldn't be all of the killings in schools. In the 70's and 80's there wasnt all of the shootings going on in school. Because parents could pop you a couple time to get you back in line. The government is out of hand on the issue.Kid shoots someone the parents are to blame

No one is "right" anywhere if he/she is doing something illegal. We are a nation of laws. If your theory was correct, people could cook meth, molest children, abuse their spouse and other crimes as long as it was done in the privacy of your home.

in my opinion, your home is your sanctuary and you should be free to be yourself as long as you are not causing harm to others in the process. This includes anything that you want to do be it against the law or not.
