I was diagnosed with PCOS yesterday. I have been trying to get pregnant for over a year. How hard is it to get pregnant with PCOS? Anyone have stories from experience? Will everyone experience more miscarriages? My mom had quite a few and now I learn this.

Yes, you can get pregnant with PCOS. Try to look at it positively that you have been diagnosed and now there is an easy solution to your problem. Most probably your doctor will run (or already has run) a bunch of bloodwork to diagnose you with PCOS. The next stop in treatment would be for you to take Glucophage (Metformin), which is just a medicine diabetics use to control their insulin leves. Its not a fertility drug and its very safe to use. This one thing will most probably lead you have normal cycles, ovulations, and allow you to get pregnant. The same thing happened to my friend and my husband's cousin. Both got pregnant within a month or two of taking Metformin. Also exercise and modify your diet (avoid extra consumption of carbs, etc) and you will hopefully be pregnant very soon :)

I was told at 17 that I had PCOS and would never have children. I quit my birth control that day. 5 months later I was pregnant. After he was born and two months old I found out I was pregnant again. 11 months later yea #3. We waited 4 years and now we having number 4. It can be done. I have a friend with PCOS that just had her 3rd baby. The first two she had they used fertility drugs and with the 3rd she was a surprise! Just keep faith. It will happen.

Every story is different. I look back now and believe I had PCOS because I had the same things as my sister, and she does have PCOS. She tried for 3 years before getting pregnant and finally they diagnosed her, put her on glucophage, within 3 months, she was pregnant. My best friend skipped PCOS treatment completely as she went through IVF. It can happen, just believe.

I was diagnosed a week ago and thurs. I have an appt to be put on Clomid with stimulates ovulation. I plan on asking my doctor about Glucophage (it's acutally a diabetes medicine that lowers the high insulin level that people with PCOS have). Good Luck and best of Wishes, you can email me if you would like, it's enabled on here. It would be nice to keep tabs with someone who has been trying as long as me and also just found out about having PCOS.
