I am writing a script for a movie I plan to produce and direct when I a older. Probably in a decades time. I only have the initial plot but whilst developing the screenplay a friend suggested that the idea may correlate with the widely succesful videogame Halo franchise. I do not have experience of this game so could you please tell me if my script appears to use Halo material. Obviously if this were the case then I would be sued and the movie would not be made. Please offer genuine honest answers and I welcome constructive criticism. Please no negative comments like "I dont like it" or "No" tell me why.

My script is not fleshed out and some things I have retained but this is the fundamental base. A single human (possibly female) finds themself on a planet. A paradise planet. We discover that this Earth is a model planet, a structure the same shape as Earth that was built to test whether our Earth could sustain life, what forms of life and to test weather systems, natural forces etc

This Paradise planet which is a giant machine structure does not remain a paradise for long. Our character is alone without intellectual company, food or shelter. There are no creatures or sentient life at all on this paradise earth. Her presence speeds the systems timetables up and creatures start evolving at an accelerated rate. She learns that because their is a glitch in Earths evolution the paradise palnet will destroy all life on Earth and start again. She trys to stop this

i would say that it sounds very similar to the halo plot lines and even tho you say you haven't played the games, the similaritys are striking, i sugggest you invest in one of the books they might enlighten you further on the plots of the games - if you don't wanna play them

edit:

The way it seems like the game is that it is one single person running round a machine planet to stop the detruction of the entire intelligent life in the universe. Plus i take that the life that she creates would begin to turn on her. in halo the main character has to battle against a parasite race that was unleashed from it.

I really suggest that you go and play the games and read a few of the books. Your story sounds very interesting but i think you need to make it sound more separate from the halo story

Thats a pretty decent start, but not much like Halo. I will tell you this too, steer away from the whole Halo theme anyways. There are plans to make it into a movie already. (I heard these plans were recently scrapped and it wont happen but with it's popularity, I am sure it will try and be made soon enough by someone else.) Keep working on what you got, make it origional to you. Using books and video games to base movies on are a cop-put to writers. They dont have to think much and the story isnt theirs. Origional works are always the best. I mean name me a video game movie, or movie based on a book that didnt disappoint? I think that says it all

Yes go on, I am interested, but that is just the beginning, also I don't really see any correlation with Halo, fantastic game and story, not that I think you need to go there, your story has enough merit on its own .... keep writing and good luck ... ... ...
