Yes, after your subscription expires, you need to pay for another year to be able to keep using it. You keep using the same version you currently have.
Here is a bit of free advice...dump it now and don't waste your money. There are plenty of good, free programs that work as good or better than Norton. Norton is more of a pain than it is worth and it hogs up tons of system resources. Unistall it completely and go get AVG antivirus, Ad-Aware, and use Windows firewall or the free version of Outpost.

It depends on the age of the product. Symantec only supports Norton products for a few years. During that time you can renew a subscription and be covered. After they discontinue support, you'll need to upgrade.
Suggestion: Keep the subscription current as long as possible. Renew.

the first answer is correct, you can just renew your subscription online, but why pay for software when its free to download online
i know there are people who say that free software is not much kop but i have been using avast 4.7 for over a year now and i wouldnt use anything else
i recently fixed a p.c that had been totally infected with viruses and spyware, and when i asked the owner about their current anti-virus they said they had been using norton anti-virus
so after fixing their p.c i installed avast and ran a full scan which picked up 12 viruses, which norton had missed
and this isnt a isolated incident,i have heard so many negative reports about norton anti-virus,if its not hogging memory its users finding it impossible to uninstall it,infact norton themselves have even put a removal tool free to download on their website for people who are having problems removing their products
i dont want to put you off using norton, there are millions of satisfied users worldwide,so it must have some good points, but why not give avast a go for a couple of weeks, then if you dont like it renew your subscription for norton, either way you have nothing to lose
you can download avast 4.7 from http://www.avast.com/eng/download-avast-home.html
i hope this has helped you
good luck

I'd say Norton; too; ut the problem is that when it's scanning it tends to slow down ur pc.. the Mc Afee is also good but makes it less slow. Personally i use Kaspersky Internet Security and home comp Trend Micro and both of them are really really good

I'll second sannalee, Norton is a sack of horse balls. It chews up loads of your system resources and better solutions are available on the market. If you don't want to pay, some quality free alternatives are AVG and avast.
If you do want to pay, Eset's NOD32 uses a very small footprint and is truly excellent.

you can still use your expire Nortons Internet Security by renewing your subscription to them, but you still have a choice of uninstalling it and install another antivirus software. you can find a lot of antivirus software offering a free trial version on the internet. (Choose only the anti-virus you trust)

Had your same question until I downloaded (for FREE) the Google Pack which comes with free Norton antivirus. Likewise, it also brings LAVASOFT spyware killer for free, too.
Good luck.
