I am in my 34th week of pregnancy, so far I haven;t had any real issues. I am currently going to the Doctor every week. At what point do they usually give you the notice to start your maternity leave?

If I go out early regualr I wouldnt have to take it unpaid, it would be covered under disabiliy pay, then after the baby is born I would have another 6 weeks. I have an office job and sitting at a desk for 8 hours a day is starting to get REALLY uncomfortable...

My doctor didn't...everything was going fine and I worked in an office. I opted to take the week off before my due date to "get ready" and then the baby was late. I missed almost 3 weeks of maternity leave before the baby even came!
Stay as long as you can!

it depends on what type of job you have. i work in an office so i was able to work up to the day i went into labor with my first baby. as long as you don't have a job where you are on your feet all day and everything else is going fine you should be able to work until the baby is born. now i'm due in 5 weeks and still working and plan to until i go into labor so i can spend my entire maternity leave with the baby and not at home waiting. good luck!!

Well, when I found out I was pregnant I was working 2 jobs, one full time, one part time about 25 hrs. a week. I was told to quit the part time one, full time one was just an office job. (As my doc put it, growing a baby is a full time job in itself...) Anyway, I was like ok, yeah right, and I continued on. I cut back on the part time one around 8 months when being on my feet so much started bothering me. (ie: when I started 'waddling' LOL) I finally quit the part time one when I started having signs of labor. I had my baby the following week, and had worked my full time job up until then. So for your answer, my doctor never pulled me from my regular full time job. It wasn't a strenuous or stressful one, and I had no complications throughout my pregnancy. So things were pretty much life as usual, up until I had my baby.

I was expected to work until I gave birth or was told by the doctor that I was not to work. I worked till my doctor stopped me in my 38th week, and I gave birth 2 days later. For me though, my maternity leave did not actually begin until I gave birth, so my 2 other days went unpaid. Your best bet is to ask your employer this question directly.

he told me I could work until I went into labor
I opted to stop working at 38 weeks with my son. I'm not kidding, within 10 hours of leaving work, I was in the hospital in labor and my water had broken.
This time, I'll go as long as I can.

With my first, my last day of work was the day I went into labor. With my second, I cried to the doc that I was tired at about 37 weeks and he signed me off. He wouldn't have done it if I hadn't cried.

If you are not having issues then your doctor may not. My doctor never did, I went in labor at work. My water didn't break or anything, I was just having contractions. It depends on your doctor and if you're having any problems.
