I have had this problem for the last few months and its really getting on my case. I have a Wireless router which i use to connect my laptop to. I play world of warcraft so a wireless connection is slow. So i take the Cable wire that is connected to my Ps2 (which is able to get online) and connect it to my Laptops Ethernet Port. I then try to access the internet but it will not connect. Several times it has said "conflicting ip address" other times it says "connected" but recieves no data" I have reseted the router and that has not fixed the problem. Also I have taken the lan cable out of the back of a computer that was able to access the web but that didnt work either. I know it has worked before because I had used a Lan before wireless but now it seems that my computer hates Lan cable. Anyone else have this problem and was able to fix?

When using Ipconfig/renew or release on wireless it says all the
Connection
Ipaddress
subnect ect

but when connected to lan and I do the same thing it says
"the operation failed as no adapter is in the state permissible for this operation"

Laptops Ethernet Port maybe bad, or you may have spyware on the laptop. Spyware clean up tools are free you can download one from Microsoft, and try to connect, if if does not work (on XP) right click my computer, left click manage left click device manager, right click your Ethernet card, left click uninstall, and restart your laptop. This will re-install your Ethernet card. Also go to your laptops manufacturers website to download you Ethernet cards newest drivers if available. GOOD LUCK.
* also if you have both wireless and a builtin ethernet card you may want to disable wireless on the laptop when using the ethernet cable with your laptop.

IPs in the 169 (private addresses) set are automatically assigned by Windows when DHCP not available. With 169 addresses, computers can only communication within their network - they have no access outside of their network (public IPs required - such as 192.*.*.*). Might want to check how you have everything configured again, and put the LAN cable back in :-) Sounds like something is not right, and your wireless is not working correctly.

When you are connected to the LAN port; Run "ipconfig/renew" at the command line; OR, go to the Network connections error, and click on repair, which does mostly the same thing as ipconfig/renew

the PS2 should be connected to the ethernet port on the wireless router...then you may need to do some setup on the ps2 to get connected...

also sounds like you may need to rerun the setup for the router.

I have never had that problem. Nor have I ever owned a PS2. But I think I might have IDed the problem. If you have a firewall it might have detected the PS2 and blocked it. Try and tweak your firewall settings. Hope this helps!! :-)
