I often read that if people were to start such a thing ''all hell would break lose''

but I am wondering if anyone has ever actually tried? who could stop anyone from actually creating such an organisation which is for white people only?

I can't see that anyone would have the power to stop it ?

I am reading these answers and shaking my head. When you speak about white groups, the KKK, skinheads, etc. are brought up. When black groups are brought up, you speak about black pride groups, NAACP, United Negro College Fund, etc. This is clearly a prejudicial double standard. Why is the concept of black groups looked upon as benevolent, and white groups as malevolent. In today's society, why is it acceptable to be proud of what you are if you belong to any minority group, yet you are supposed to be ashamed of yourself if you are white?

People are people. Take away the labels. There are good & bad in all groups.

I can imagine if someone made a WET like BET, there would be an uproar. I would think there isn't many just to keep the peace. No one has the power to stop it but there would probably be riots and whoever is in that group would be targeted as a racist whether they are not. They would automatically be labeled as such. I wonder who the real racists are in 2007? Whites?

Its a good point.

However i think most white people do not see any need to create a self-segregating group, most of us want integration and the acceptance of all.

A white ( or anything else ) only group just encourages inequality and segregation.

In our company we have "latino-hispanic", "afro-carribean", Native American" and "gay, lasbian, bi-sexual and transgender" executive-sponsored support groups. I might suggest we add a whites only group.

Can you let me know where the job centre is ? I bet i'd need it by Friday.

I agree with Chris and "who am i" ( a few answers below ). To cite the KKK as the example of a whites only organisation is just rubbish. If all the answers are really saying that is the only type of group white people could set up, well, that you all racists in my book - you're assuming you know how white people would behave because of thier colour - racism - pure and simple.

funny how you think a black support group is for the good of promoting black values and cluture, but a white group is for promoting racism...huh ???? Seems anti-white racism is so built into these answers that they can't even see it.

I think the question is asking why is it ok to have NAACP, and such organizations but what if white people had something that benefited whites only, that would be raceist. The same in Oklahoma, if you are not Native American it is hard to get state help...

The Christian Church was first set up as whites only, then of course over history we have had the Klu Klux Klan, and then the Aran Race (Hitler), none off these groups have been very good for the whites image which is why people probably stay away from starting a new whites only group.

But I do understand what you are saying, every minority group in this country band together and we are left to fend for ourselves.

No, but Ziggy fails to mention groups such as Mau Mau, Kikuyu, Alqaeda. I'm only trying to point out it's not only white groups that are bad 'uns.

I see what you are saying, they have clubs and groups at the high school level for different cultures and ethnic groups. Ours has one for hispanic students and another for native american students. There aren't any for caucasian students though, but I suspect if someone wanted to organize one they could. It wouldnt' be "white people only" though, just as people of other groups can join those two I mentioned above. It could be white people awareness, with an open enrollment.

Whites are the ones really being discriminated against. You cannot have an "all white club or anything" unless you want to be sued. However, every other race can have any kind of club they want to. And anybody except a white person can get hand outs without being scrutinized under a microscope, even illegal aliens! Don't misunderstand me - I am not prejudiced against any race or culture (God loves us all), but I do feel as if whites are discriminated against. And as an employer, I should be allowed to hire the best person qualified for the job, regardless of their skin color or culture.

There has been many in the past. Have everyone forgotten already?

Are you forgetting about the KKK? The Aryan Nation Brothers? Nazi Germany?

There really is not a need for this type of group. Maybe in another 100 years when white people will be in the minority. Till then, makes no sense.

I believe the last one they tried was the KKK.

I agree that the double-standard is quite silly. You can have the United Negro College Fund, the NAACP, Miss Black America, the Congressional Black Caucus, etc., but you can't have an organization with only white people.

Why aren't their organizations considered to be racist? They only allow people of one heritage or skin color to be members. Isn't that the definition of racism?

Being white does not mean that you grew up in a world of privilege. A black kid that grows up in a middle-class family has a much easier life than a poor white kid, but the black kid will get bonus points on entrance exams and qualify for all sorts of perks simply because of the color of his skin.

Aren't we supposed to be colorblind?
