I'm and 18 year old U.S. citizen girl and here in the United States, we're taught about Hitler and the Holocaust as young as 10 years old. And I've always been VERY interested about Hitler and the Holocaust, because I can and at the same time I can't believe that 6 million Jews (among others) would be hated so much that they would be sent to concentration camps and treated so inhumane!!! I know that the Holocaust happended, because there are holocaust survivors that I've gotten to "interview." And to hear what happended in those concentration camps is absolutely APPAULING!!! So my question to you germans is this, what do you think about the Holocaust? Or are you just too ashamed that something so atrious like the Holocaust even existed? In school, we're taught that a majority of german kids in german schools are taught that the Holocaust never happended, or it wasen't as bad as it's really said to be. True or False. Take your pick.

No, it's not true that German kids were taught in school that the Holocaust never happened!! It is illegal in Germany to deny the Holocaust and you can even go to jail for Holocaust denial in Germany. We all know that the Holocaust happened and about how horrible it was and we all learn about it at school. How much in detail we study it depends on the teachers, but all kids have to learn the main facts like the number of victims and about the deportations and concentration camps and gas chambers and all this, and about the Nazi time in general, and usually German students have to visit a former concentration camp and some teachers invite Holocaust survivors to speak to their students.
About what I think about it I don't have good words, it was so horrible that I don't have words for it. Yes it is very shameful for Germany as a nation, but I don't want it ever to be forgotten because we must learn from it and also because of respect for the victims.

Well the Holocaust isn't forgotten in Germany. It isn't talked about around the dinner table if thats what you mean but it is still learnt about in schools since it is part of history.
It is very embarrasing for many German people, who although might not have even been alive during WWII, still are proud of their people.

In Germany it is strictly illegal to fly anything from those times, like the Swastika, posters of Hitler, etc. or to even promote Nazism in any way. No they haven't forgotten.

It's only in nasty little countries like in the Middle East where the children are taught that the Holocaust is all a Jewish lie.

at first Iraq became no longer in touch in 9/11 (for that remember no guy or woman iraqis have been the two). 2nd - we did no longer circulate to conflict with Germany simply by holocaust. We have been attacked via Japan. We declared conflict on Japan who have been in touch in a mutual protection %. with Germany and Italy. This led to us being at conflict with all 3. 0.33 Bush insiders have shown what's sparkling from Bush speeches in the previous 9/11 - that Bush became captivated with invading Iraq from the 2nd he became elected.
