well, i am not sure about the specific demographics of the area you are talking about... but... in general, most areas consist of upper class, middle class and lower class. these classes are based upon annual income. people are also divided by religion, race and various other factors.

Yes the caste system is still there is India. There are people who get married out of caste, but the cases are still very less. In high society the caste is not that important but there money matters a lot. The caste system plays important role during elections ( MP, MLA)and selection (bride and groom). In India voters do not cast there votes but caste votes. Castes do influence the habits, culture and social organization. In fact some castes think that they are superior to other castes and then the problem starts.
