Washington DC Metropolitian Areas sucks so badly.

There's Traffic Congestion out the Whazoo.

There are no great forests in the area. DC is at least 2 hours away from it's closest National Park (and the Shenandoah National Park is not that great relative to other parks).

The Crime is bad. Although to DC's credit, most of it takes place in Washington DC which is a small part of this whole Metropolitian Area.

Horrible Real Estate Market (500K+ dollars for a 1300 square foot home in a crappy suburban VA Neighborhood like Falls Church).

For the kids this area is even worse. There's no more riding bikes down the streets, playing by streams or in meadows with your friends. There are no more Trees. Few Public Swimming pools. No water skiing.

Very little opportunity to experience the Great Outdoors unless you consider a walk around the monuments and through Rock Creek Park the Great Outdoors. Painful heat and humidity in the summer.

My advice, don't move here. It sucks.

Then you were stupid for moving here. It is Washington, DC - a major metropolitan city. If you wanted all that other stuff, then you should have moved somewhere where they have those options which is not in a major city. It doesn't suck, you just have to know what you want and research it beforehand.

It would be in your best interest to apply for positions within the federal government. It's secure, stable and the pay is great. Uh, DC is an expensive place to live and that goes for the surrounding Northern Virginia and Maryland. Parking is a disaster and unless u can afford it and Metro is the Anti-Christ. In all Honest, it's cheaper to live in Maryland than in DC or VA and it is a catch 22 in transportation. If you drive be prepared to pay and deal with unruly traffic or if u want to take the metro be prepared to be fustrated.

Waaaahhhh....I have three acres out in Loudoun County. Lots of trees, traffic ain't so bad.....kids have room to ride bikes....and the river is just down the road (the unpolluted part of the Potomac) Hardly any crime, and homes are alot cheaper.

My two cents. I agree with you though. DC sucks big time.
