Ok I have run avg, spybot, adaware all came up with nothing. So why is it when I select ANY date in my system restore it goes though all of it to then say "System cannot be restored to this date"? Any Ideas.

I have several dates to choose from, none of them work.

One other Q, can anyone think of a reason why i keep getting a server busy screen or cannot find page for www.zsl.org when I can access it on any other pc? I have looked into my firewall its not that, even added the site to always allow in security settings, any ideas?

Thanks

Evil ... I won't have the best answer, I'm sure, but I wanted to mention that I had an identical problem with my XP SP2 system a few months ago. I wanted to go back to an earlier point in time, and at first it looked like it was beginning the restore ... and a smile came to my face ... but ultimately, it just pooped out just like your attempt failed and my smile changed to a frown.

Based on my past experiences and comments from some friends, I've grown more distrustful of Windows add-ons such as the restore utility and I just don't use them anymore. In my case, I simply do full back-ups using a popular back-up program.

Good luck, Evil.

You may have installed a program or windows update that is preventing system restore from rolling back to a previous version.

In general system restore should only be used as a last resort to sort problems. Never trust it as a means of removing viruses as viruses can be backed up in system restore too.

Please do the following thing & see what happens.
1. System restore, you have to chose only high lighted dates.
2. Any virous or spyware remover will not help you if after installation you have not updated it.
3.As far as non assecible url please go to controle panel & double click internet options their in general you will find some thing but click only, Use blank . Than go to security first click custom level than click restore defaults do it on all four icons you see. Than go to advanced & click restore default. click apply in each window than click OK. you are done. Do it regularly before surfing. Don,t fumble with other settings in future.

It sounds like one or more of the system restore files has become
corrupted preventing you from restoring to an earlier date; if that is the case your only option is to switch off system restore and delete all the old restore points. Reboot, and switch system restore back on.
