I don't mean reggae... I mean reggaeton.
It's a latin version of hip-hop... never heard of Daddy Yankee (he's Puerto Rican) also Don Omar, Ivy Queen... so many people.
I'm not a big reggaeton fan but here (miami) people (specially Latin) are really into that music.

I think shes really good..so does my son but probably for different reasons! Shes not that big here but well known enough. Music is such a personal thing, there's no good or bad, just different

She's not bad at the minute. We do know she's famous, and if I saw her in the street I would get her autograph, but she's not as big as McFly, Ricky Gervais... that bracket. As usual, if you speak Spanish you'll understand her.
Most English people are interested in pop music, and very little take much interest in reggae. I do like reggae but I can only listen to the classics because I can't find anything new. I listen to rock music instead.
When you are old, stay in Miami. You honestly do not know how lucky you are. I don't like it here at the moment, although there is good education but the public services are awful around my area. If you want to live in England, live in Cheshire (north-west of England) or go to Scotland.

I personally do not speak Spanish so therefore do not understand Shakira when she sings in Spanish! I don't think she is massive over here, she has a weird singing voice, although her song 'Hips don't lie' was big in the summer so she may well be growing as an artist here. Although, to be fair honey, I do not think her singing voice is the talent the men are looking at! My Fiance has tried to sing the song a few times and got the lyrics wrong, I keep telling him, stop staring at her credentials and learn the words otherwise do not bother! x

Never heard of Reggaeton, and I live in London and frequently go to Brixton and Camden, the biggest places for new music here.

Shakira has had three really successful singles - Hips Don't Lie, Whenever, Wherever and the tango one, but not sure about her album.

People don't tend to like stuff in other languages here. One band I love - Super Furry Animals - did an album in Welsh and it bombed.

A lot of people like Celine Dion, but I've never heard of anyone who buys her French stuff.

Another of my favourite bands is Rammstein, who sing in German. They're pretty popular in the metal scene, but that's about it.

Hope this helps.

I live in London and Shakira is definitely popular in the UK. I'm a bit out of touch with the charts as I'm a thirty something who can still remember when Gloria Estefan was the biggest Latin singer in the UK.
Shakira rocks!

Yes we listen to Shakira. In fact, she had a number 1 last summer. But it's more a personal choice, isn't it? Not everybody likes her, obv.
People who speak spanish probably do understand what she says, but as a rule, just english speaking people don't.
And yes, some people do listen to reggae.

The last song she released here was “hips don’t lie”, personally I think she is cool.
I studied Spanish at school so I don’t have a problem understanding most of her songs. We have most of the same music that u have over in the USA but, we also have bands that are big here that haven’t made it in the USA and likewise so do u. I hope that helps!

I used to love shakira because when she first came back with hips don't lie, she was really quite curvy and sexy but she's lost weight again now. I have both her albums though. I love trying to work out what she's saying in her songs. Although interviews i've seen with her make her seem a bit big headed, and she hardly ever seems to thank her fans at all. Get your priorities straight woman! Its thanks to your fans you have had any success at all, their the reason you are where you are today.

Yeah i know i'm weird.

Yes she is pretty big over here. Probably not as big as in America, but she often makes the top 10 in the charts! Never heard of Reggaeton.

And finally England is rubbish!! You do not want to live here!!

Shakira's the same size in all countries i thought....size zero!!!

LOL

If i knew what she sung in Spanish i could possibly understand as i did study it a few years back at school. However like many of the other answers, i dunno what Reggaeton is!!

When you're old you'll be wise enough to know NOT to live in England!!! It's not all that great believe me, most of us are migrating....
