My daughter will be 12 months in March. I've purchased her plates and decor (they are purple and pink) but I need to know what food. I was given the idea of having a baked potato buffet. Give everyone a plain baked potato and have all the fixings and let them pick. For the children I was thinking of a chicken nugget tray and a fruit tray. The children will be 13, 17, and 21 months and 2 1/2 years old. We don't have any ideas for activities. We are going to have guests write a dream they have for her which we're putting in a can we decorated. She will open it on her 16th or 18th birthday. Any other ideas?

I'm sorry I shouldn't have been so lazy and explained myself better!! LOL The children are 13 months, 17 months, 21 months and 2 1/2 years old. I really didn't want any food that parents would have to spoon feed their children. My daughter can feed herself finger foods so she isn't an issue. I was thinking a chicken nugget tray from Chick-Fil-A perfect for tiny fingers and things like oranges and grapes (cut in half). Altogeter there will be about 20 adults with 4 children. They are all close family and friends.

alos instead of a birthday cake they now make cupcakes cakes. they can make the design as a cake but they can be spreated ealisy. Think about the things you daughter like to do. Expamle- my dughters 1st b/day is july we are having a beach party. with kiddie pools and beach sand. Make it simple and fun. Outside parties are the best kids like to get messy. Try hand painting or coloring.

I love the can idea...my daughter will be 12 months on Friday, and I'm incorporating that into the party!!

The potato buffet is a great idea for adults. Depending on the ages of the children, you need to try and steer clear of chokeable items, like grapes, nuts, and even the chicken nuggets. Even if the younger guests are older then your daughter, you don't want to risk her getting her hands on something that could hurt her. You should also check with the parents of the children to make sure there are no food allergies.

As far as games, you may want to play Duck Duck Goose, Simon Says, Red Rover, Red Light/Green Light, or Hot Potato...try to aim for things that won't overwhelm your daughter, but will be fun for the other kids. The 13 and 17 year old may be a little "above" these games, but they are old enough to appreciate playing along for your daughter's enjoyment.

With kids, you won't go wrong with Mac n Cheese (adults may like it too). Get a family size pack from your grocery store and Bingo! or you can have a Pasta Fiesta! for both adults and kids.

I added some Goldfish and cracker and cheese as appetizer, and the fruit tray sounds perfect.

As for the games, you can play hidden treasure... go to your dollar store and get a couple of toys or some candies and hide them in different places at your house, then get the kids to find them. Whoever finds the most toys, wins.

Happy BD to your little princess.
