I would want to save them all, but if only one could survive, I would choose the teenager. Other diseases or conditions could shorten the life span of the other two patients. Statistically speaking the teenager has a better chance of living longer than the other two. The fact that that patient dropped out of school should not even be considered. Think about your life. Have you made mistakes. Just because someone drops out does not mean that they can not make something of themselves.

The grandmother. Since she has many grandchildren, her love will enable them to respect the world. In many of the cultures of the North American Indian, the two most important groups are the Elders, and the children. The Elders have the wisdom, the children have the future. Of course, in Anglo tradition, those are the two groups thrown under the bus. Children are allowed to be abused and beaten, and the elderly are warehoused so they won't be an embarrassment. By saving the grandmother, you have saved the children also.

The 1 year old. The grandma has had a good chance in life and lived happily. The teenager is a waste of space by sounds of it, and the 1 year old hasn't experienced much. They have their whole life ahead of them and deserve that.

I know this is a hypothetical question, but in real life doctors are required by the hippacratic oath to treat any and all patients they see, otherwise malpractice steps in.
