Defending American values and lifestyle can never be considered a waste. Failure to stand up against bullies and terrorist is the waste. Being a pacifist has only resulted in people being abused. Liberals wanting to quit before the victory are far more dangerous that finishing the job. This is not an endorsement of how things are being done but a statement that the public needs to tell the politicians and generals that victory is the only solution. The generals should be told to get plans that work or get out of uniform. Period.

Excellent propaganda from abroad. When people from the Middle East try to campaign for Obama because he may back off and speak against the US military and you assume that he is an active Muslim it makes his chances to be elected next to nil. That means none incidentally. Obama is not the Middle Eastern candidate, at least not so far and he is not campaigning to reaffirm Bin Laden's role or radical Islam. Readers, this question is just the beginning of the end of Barack Obama's candidacy. He will spend all of his time trying to disavow any relationship with the Middle East and while he seems to have none, the American news media leads Middle Easterners to believe he is pro Islam and anti US. What a shame that the first viable black candidate will be sidelined this way. But there it is folks.

The fact is that before the 2002 a lot of people agreed that Iraq had WMDs. The UN had numerous investigations and Sadam failed to comply. If they really didn't have anything, what was he hiding. The only conclusion when there is an investigation and someone is not complying is that they are trying to hide something. WMDs were either moved out of Iraq or Sadam is the biggest idiot ever. If the UN did their investigation and discovered there were no WMDs, we wouldn't have perceived Iraq as a threat. Once we realised that there were no WMDs, it was too late to back out. If you think the whole world hates the US now, just wait until we leave and there is more bloodshed. As for the other threats, the US and its allies are dealing with North Korea and Iran.

Those that feel lives lost in Iraq have been wasted fail to value the honor of this country. People should not confuse bad leadership with waste. The people who have given their lives may have known the generals and politicians did not grasp how to win but their strength to go on demonstrated devotion to country despite mistakes of leaders. We as Americans should never consider that a waste.

It's a question of opinion. For those soldiers who lost their lives on these two fronts(Afganistan & Iraq) I believe that they made the ultimate sacrifice for what they believed in. On the other hand you have to take into effect that the Iraq war was a lie to begin with. When a president knowingly sends his troops into harms way under false allegations then that should be heavily weighted. These soldiers in Iraq are over there fighting a senseless war with no near resolution so in my opinion their lives are wasted. Wasted because soldiers follow orders and they gave their lives for a senseless order. Those soldier's should have been here protecting Americans from Americans. Where were all the soldiers when Hurricane Katrina struck the gulf coast? They were all overseas fighting these stupid *** wars. We had no one to help us. Bush wants to talk about homeland security? At that point America and Americans were at their most vulnerable point!

I love hearing things like this from people who have no idea what they are talking about. No lives have been WASTED!!! They were lost, but not wasted. Try asking this question to a family member of someone whos life was lost in the war and see their reaction. You don't waste your life being in the military. I was in the Army and honor everybody over there.

Somebody in the forum once posted a link to videos of Iraqi militants in Hussein's regime torturing their own people and throwing them off buildings.
I think we'll find that very few soldiers who have been wounded during the operations or the families of soldiers who have given their lives would say that their lives have been wasted.
That's the bottom line. Ask the soldiers and the people who know them best if they feel their lives are wasted.

Obviously you have never served in the military. Those who serve and have served (I served in the military from 1997 - 2006, was honorably discharged after receiving a disability). Our soliders, marines, and sailors are proud of themselves and their country. We all know that when we sign up for the military, there is a possiblity of going to war. It's something we all accept and we're proud to defend freedom and DEMOCRACY. Our fallen brothers lives have not been wasted. They died for a good cause. Whether or not you want to believe that is up to you. But you go tell the family of a dead solider that he was wasted and you're surely to get a hard smack on the face from his loved ones. No lives have been wasted. They were only killed in the line of duty. What duty is this? Ensuring freedom for the world.

We are being protected from those other countries only in some cases, by the fight we are waging right now in Iraq. Saudia Arabia is our ally. North Korea and Iran could easily become allies against us if we are not careful how we step in Iraq. I like Obama and those 'people' are just trying to use his words against him. We all know what he means. He is going to be president and the republicans are doing their best to stop it if they can, but they cant. He will win.

Would it make you feel any better if we lost 2500 people fighting N. Korea, Iran and Saudi Arabia?
