Just curious ~ is My Chemical Romance categorised as emo?
Uh, what the heck is emo? Music genre or just an image of certain group of people?
If MCR isn't, then could you please state the bands that are emo?
... love MCR songs -- particularly Welcome to the Black Parade! :D

There is a really good but long definition of what emo is here http://en.wikipedia.org/wiki/Emo_%28music%29 A lot of people are confused and call themselves emo because they listen to certain bands like My Chemical Romance, but that band is not actually emo. Take a look at that article, its very informative, better than anyone could explain in a few words on here.

It used to mean emotional punk but the punk part seems to have been dropped in the last couple of years.
Emo came from Hardcore punk grindcore with a good measure of grunge thrown in - in my eyes
to be honest i think the whole emo movement is a bit of a con the lastest flash in a pan fashion that rock music has become since image became more important than music in the 90's, better get off my soap box :D

Generally, emo bands tend to have whinny, annoying vocalists like Fall Out Boy and New Found Glory.

sum ppl shud realy think b4 they assume that all emos cut there selves and self harm. and r all miserable whiney f*****s.
because i like such bands that r defined as emo music and i dont self harm and im a happy person and dont think the whole world is out to get me.
plus do all u ppl asume that other ppl dont self harm that listen 2 other kinds of music that isnt emo because i no non "emo" ppl that do it.
also my chemical romance r the best band eva, love them

ok goth and emo are different but i have no idea what bands fit in which.Emo tends to be self harming teenagers really,emotionally messed up with issues who lock themselves away and slit their wrists all to fit in with being classed as emo.
my chemical romance ARE classed as emo,so are fall out boy/evanescence/bullet for my valentine/panic at the disco..i don't know many others.
